If your computer is running significantly slower than it used to, it could be that you've fallen victim to Viruses, Malware, Ad-Ware, or PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). You may already have antivirus running, but when was the last time that you ran a scan? Do you know if your antivirus is scheduled to run scans automatically? Or do you even have Antivirus?
Antivirus Programs I Recommend:
Avira and Avast are two good options for Free Antivirus. Avast also has a premium option. It is mostly a matter of preference, but I would not recommend paying for Avast's more expensive options. If you're going to pay for an Antivirus go with ESET. It is an upgrade and unlike some Antivirus programs, it won't bog down your computer.
Yes, that's right... Some Antivirus can actually be the cause of your slow computer performance.
Once you have Antivirus, run a full system scan.
Next, you may also need to run a separate Malware scan. For this, I highly recommend Malware Bytes!
Download it, let it update, and then run a Scan.
These programs will help clear your computer of viruses, malware, and other things that are taking up your valuable system resources - not to mention things that may be putting your privacy in danger.
